In order to extend the knowledge on the fungal diversity found on grapevine, we isolated and identified the endophytic fungi in the leaves and roots of Vitis labrusca cv. Isabel. Between June 2009 and December 2011, eight sampling surveys of the leaves and roots of V. labrusca were performed. The results showed that V. labrusca cv. Isabel plants harbour a high diversity of endophytic fungi. From a total of 644 isolates, 52 species of endophytic fungi were identified. Nigrospora oryzae and the Colletotrichum gloeosporioides species complex were themost frequent species in leaves, whereas Fusarium oxysporum, F. merismoides and Cylindrocladiella camelliae were the most common species in roots, suggesting that they may play an ecological role in the plant.
