Using high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), flame atomic absorption spectrometry (FAAS) and amino acid autoanalyzer, the primary metabolites of Mycena dendrobii were determined for the first time. The contents of twenty six primary metabolites were identified including five nucleosides (2’-deoxycytidine, 2’-deoxyuridine,2’-deoxythymidine,guanosine and adenosine), two water-soluble vitamins (vitamin C and vitamin B2), six trace elements (Fe, Mn, Co, Zn, Cr and Cu) and thirteen amino acids (threonine, serine, glutamic acid, alanine, valine, methionine, isoleucine, leucine, tyrosine, phenylalanine, lysine, histidine, and arginine), indicating that the primary metabolites of Mycena dendrobii could be the raw material or growth promoter in the germination of Gastrodia elata BI..
